US Insurer The Hartford Opens Hyderabad Tech Centre, Eyes 1,200 Jobs
US insurance major The Hartford inaugurated its Global Technology Centre in Hyderabad, marking its India debut. The 160,000 sq ft facility in the Financial District will support the company’s tech transformation, focusing on AI, digital innovation, and engineering.
The centre, expected to scale to 1,200 employees in coming years, will drive advanced digital and AI capabilities globally. It will operate in a start-up-like environment, enabling rapid prototyping and cross-time-zone collaboration with The Hartford’s US tech hubs.
“This center will be a magnet for talent in India,” said Shekar Pannala, CIO of The Hartford. “We’ll create new digital and AI capabilities, shaping insurance technology’s future.”
The move follows other global firms like Microsoft and Google, which chose Hyderabad for major tech hubs. “Hyderabad is a landing point for global leaders,” said Telangana I-T Minister D Sridhar Babu, citing McDonald’s, Vanguard, and Marriott International.
The Hartford’s decision reflects Hyderabad’s engineering talent and ecosystem. “We welcome The Hartford as a partner in digital innovation,” Sridhar Babu added.
The facility will support the company’s enterprise-wide technology transformation journey, with a strong focus on artificial intelligence (AI), digital innovation and engineering excellence.
Operating in a start-up-like environment, the centre is designed for “rapid prototyping and seamless cross–time-zone collaboration with the company’s technology hubs in Hartford, Charlotte, Chicago, and Columbus (in the US)”.
