The rapid expansion follows strong GCC talent demand and the successful launch of Udupi’s first recruitment-focused CoE in September 2024.

Xpheno, a specialist staffing firm, has announced its expansion of Centre of Excellence (CoE) in Udupi, doubling its operational capacity within a year of launch.

A media statement said that the rapid scale-up comes on the back of healthy talent demand from GCCs and a promising start from the Udupi CoE, which was launched in September 2024 as the region’s first recruitment-focused CoE. The expanded 250-seater facility will further strengthen Xpheno’s ability to deliver high-quality specialist hiring at scale for GCCs and global enterprises across Indian and international markets.

Quoting Anil Kumar Ethanur, Co-Founder of Xpheno, the statement said: “Our Udupi CoE has given us the unique mix of leadership, access to trainable freshers and high standard infrastructure. They have blended well with our vision and cocreated a culture of excellence that has given us the confidence to scale up our capacity.”

Since its inception, the Udupi CoE has supported over 50 clients, including more than 10 GCCs, delivering over 1,050 placements across IT and non-IT roles through direct and contract hiring. Of these, 104 placements were delivered in 2024, followed by 951 placements in 2025. The CoE currently supports hiring across major Indian talent markets such as Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Chennai, Pune, and Mumbai, while also executing mandates for international locations, including Dubai.

Kamal Karanth Airody, Co-Founder of Xpheno, said: “The Xpheno CoE in Udupi is more than a state-of-the-art facility; it is a hub of opportunity powered by home-grown talent. We take immense pride in the fact that nearly 80 per cent of our team, across freshers and lateral hires, comes from non-recruitment backgrounds. Handpicked for potential, they are systematically upskilled into industry specialists. Over 50 per cent of our Udupi team is powered by women workforce. We are proud that we have been able to cross 100 employees in a year’s time and now expanding to a 250-seater capacity. We are enabling a new generation to build rewarding, long-term careers in the 20 billion dollar staffing industry market.”

With GCCs increasingly adopting distributed delivery and non-metro talent strategies, the Udupi-Manipal-Mangaluru corridor is gaining exposure to large-scale, cross-border hiring mandates traditionally anchored in Bengaluru and other metros. Xpheno’s expanded CoE is expected to drive direct local employment, provide national and global talent insights to the region, and deepen industry-academia collaboration, while strengthening Karnataka’s broader Beyond Bengaluru digital economy vision, the statement said.
