Rolls-Royce Launches Largest Global Capability Centre in Bengaluru
Rolls-Royce, a global leader in power systems for the aerospace and defence sectors launched its new Global Capability and Innovation Centre (GCC) in Bengaluru. The state-of-the-art facility located in Manyata Embassy Business Park is set to become the company’s largest and most advanced in the world.
Large and Medium Scale Industries Minister M B Patil who inaugurated the 700-seater centre commended the British engineering giant’s long-standing commitment to Karnataka and India. “The talented team in Bengaluru will now power the company’s global businesses. Rolls-Royce’s expansion reaffirms Karnataka’s position as India’s leading hub for aerospace defence and advanced engineering” he said. Patil noted that such initiatives have helped establish Bengaluru as one of the top three cities globally for aerospace investment.
The new centre marks a significant expansion of Rolls-Royce’s footprint in India. The company announced plans to double its sourcing from the country over the next five years, accelerating the integration of Indian suppliers into its global supply chain.
Rolls-Royce Chief Financial Officer Helen McCabe highlighted the company’s deep roots in the region tracing back to a 1956 agreement with Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL). Today over 3000 people work within the Rolls-Royce ecosystem in India including 2000 highly skilled engineers contributing to global development programmes. The company’s engines are a critical component for the Indian armed forces powering over 1400 platforms across the Air Force, Navy, Coast Guard and Army.
This investment reflects a broader trend of global automotive and aerospace firms establishing major R&D hubs in India. These centres are no longer just for execution but are at the forefront of developing frontier technologies like software-defined vehicles, AI-powered systems and autonomous driving. Rolls-Royce’s new GCC is a testament to this shift solidifying the nation’s indispensable role in building the future of mobility from India.
