Telangana Emerges as India’s Next-Gen GCC Powerhouse: Report
Telangana is rapidly rising as India’s next-generation Global Capability Centre (GCC) powerhouse, according to a new report by Xpheno, a leading specialist staffing firm. The study, Telangana: The Next-Gen GCC Powerhouse, reveals that Hyderabad now attracts 40% of all new Greenfield GCCs in India, followed by Bengaluru at 33%.
Over the past three years, Hyderabad has become the most preferred destination for Greenfield GCCs, representing a strong, future-ready ecosystem that appeals to global enterprises. Currently, Telangana hosts more than 360 GCCs, employing over 3.1 lakh professionals, which accounts for nearly 14% of the state’s total white-collar workforce.
Key Drivers of Telangana’s GCC Boom
The Xpheno report attributes Telangana’s rapid rise in the GCC arena to several key factors. Major among them is the state’s vast pool of skilled professionals, available at competitive costs. This combination has made Telangana particularly attractive to global enterprises seeking to scale efficiently. Adding to this advantage is the state’s strong inflow of new talent. With an inbound-to-outbound jobseeker ratio of 4:1, Telangana continues to maintain a steady supply of professionals ready to join and grow within the GCC ecosystem.
What further distinguishes Telangana is the diversity of its GCC landscape. Unlike regions dominated by a single industry, Telangana’s GCCs span across sectors such as IT, banking and financial services (BFSI), healthcare, and manufacturing. This cross-sectoral depth creates a robust environment for innovation and collaboration, making it even more appealing to multinational firms.
The report further highlights the growing participation of women in Telangana’s GCC workforce. Women currently make up 33% of employees in the sector, with 19% occupying leadership roles. This rise in gender representation underscores the evolving inclusivity within the state’s tech and business ecosystems.
Beyond demographic and sectoral insights, the Xpheno report provides several key insights into Telangana’s GCC ecosystem. Telangana currently enjoys a Positive Talent Balance (PTB) of 6,400 professionals, a metric that ranks second only to Karnataka. This surplus of available, job-ready talent is a strong signal to companies seeking scalable and sustainable workforce solutions.
Engineering and IT roles dominate the employment landscape within Telangana’s GCCs, accounting for 57% of the total workforce. Furthermore, the state boasts a substantial talent pool, with 47.8 lakh accessible professionals, including 23.3 lakh individuals with over a year of experience. This ensures a continuous pipeline of skilled workers, vital for sustaining long-term growth.
“This highlights Telangana’s growing strategic importance on the national and global map of capability centres,” Kamal Karanth, Co-founder, Xpheno, said.
“Telangana is fast emerging as India’s next-generation GCC powerhouse. With a vibrant, skilled workforce and progressive infrastructure, the State has become a magnet for global enterprises seeking sustainable talent ecosystems,” Karanth added.
“Policy support and access to 47 lakh-plus white-collar professionals make Hyderabad a preferred hub for high-value capability centres. Telangana’s strong talent inflows, leadership depth, and rapid Greenfield GCC expansion underscore its readiness to anchor the next wave of innovation-led global operations from India,” he said.
