India’s GCC Ecosystem Takes Centre Stage at AIM-STPI Innovation Conclave
With 2117 corporations having established their Global Capability Centres (GCCs) in India, there is a growing opportunity for enterprises to collaborate with policymakers and government stakeholders to strengthen the country’s innovation and entrepreneurship ecosystem. Recognising this potential, the Atal Innovation Mission (AIM), NITI Aayog, in partnership with the Software Technology Parks of India (STPI), organised the GCC Conclave on Innovation 2026 in Bengaluru. The conclave brought together GCC leaders, R&D heads, innovation leaders, startup ecosystem enablers, incubators and policymakers to explore opportunities for deeper collaboration to advance India’s innovation and entrepreneurship ecosystem.
To create stronger linkages between India’s innovation ecosystem and GCCs, the event was organised to foster partnerships across AIM’s innovation continuum. Discussions focused on opportunities to engage with initiatives spanning school-level innovation through Atal Tinkering Labs (ATLs), startup incubation via Atal Incubation Centres (AICs) and Atal Community Innovation Centres (ACICs) and startup scale-up through the upcoming Atal Acceleration Centres for Scale-up of Startups (AACESS) industrial accelerator programme.
Senior representatives of leading GCCs and technology organisations, including Intel, IBM, Bosch, Amazon, SAP and several other multinational enterprises, participated in the event alongside representatives from AIM-supported incubators, STPI, Karnataka Digital Economy Mission (KDEM) and other ecosystem stakeholders. The conclave marked a significant step towards integrating GCCs more closely into India’s innovation and entrepreneurship landscape.
“India’s GCC ecosystem – with over 2,100 centres generating nearly USD 100 billion in revenue – stands as a testament to what is possible when global ambition meets Indian talent. STPI has been a foundational enabler of this journey since 1991, building the technology infrastructure, policy framework and ecosystem connectivity that made India the world’s foremost destination for global capability development.” said Shri Aravind Kumar, Director General of STPI.
He further encouraged GCCs across the country to join the initiative, highlighting their pivotal role in advancing India’s vision of Viksit Bharat 2047.
Deepak Bagla, the Mission Director of Atal Innovation Mission, NITI Aayog, pointed out the critical role of GCCs in shaping India’s innovation-led growth story. “Today, GCCs have established India as a global hub for technology, engineering and product innovation,” Bagla added.
The conclave also explored potential avenues for collaboration between AIM and STPI, with both organisations seeking to leverage their complementary strengths to support innovators, startups, entrepreneurs and technology enterprises across India.
