Cushman & Wakefield Facilitates New GCC for Lloyd’s List Intelligence in Chennai
Cushman & Wakefield, a global real estate services firm, has announced the successful establishment of a new Global Capability Centre (GCC) for Lloyd’s List Intelligence (LLI), a UK-headquartered leader in maritime intelligence. The new centre, developed with Cushman & Wakefield’s GCC Advisory Services, will play a critical role in LLI’s daily operations, including data cleaning and delivery of over one billion maritime data points every day.
The GCC is located in Chennai, a city known for its rich maritime history and home to the Indian Maritime University. The city has emerged as a premier destination for GCCs, offering a deep talent pool, established infrastructure, and a strong cost advantage.
The centre will have an initial capacity of around 200 professionals and will contribute to job creation and skill development within Chennai’s thriving digital and analytics talent ecosystem.
Cushman & Wakefield guided the entire end-to-end GCC journey for LLI, leveraging its multidisciplinary expertise in location strategy, real estate advisory, and programme management.
“LLI India had a clear vision to establish a strategic offshore centre in India with an initial capacity of ~200 professionals, and Chennai was selected as the preferred destination based on the city’s deep talent pool and established GCC infrastructure,” said V.S. Sridhar, Executive Managing Director – Tamil Nadu & Kerala and Head GCC Advisory – Operations & Emerging Cities, Cushman & Wakefield.
India has emerged as a leading destination for GCCs, with many multinational companies setting up centres in cities like Bengaluru, Hyderabad, and Chennai. The country’s large talent pool, favourable business environment, and government support have made it an attractive location for GCCs.
“India’s capability ecosystem plays a central role in our global growth,” said Parvin Conners, Chief Operating Officer, Lloyd’s List Intelligence. “The Chennai GCC reinforces our commitment to innovation and excellence in maritime analytics.”
The launch of the new GCC for LLI is a major win for Chennai and India, highlighting the country’s growing importance in the global services sector. The centre is expected to contribute to job creation, skill development and economic growth in the region.
